Annual Point in Time Count
On Wednesday and Thursday January 25th and 26th Chester County of Emergency Management and participating agencies and organizations will conduct a Point-In-Time count of homeless people.
It helps the community comply with HUD requirements (http://www.commerce.wa.gov/site/1064/default.aspx) for funding, it can be helpful to service providers in long-range planning and it can help providers to evaluate the effectiveness of the services they currently provide.
Volunteers throughout Chester County are needed to help interview people living on the streets, in shelters and “doubled-up” with family or friends. They will be asking people where they slept on the night of January 24th, 2012 and gathering demographic information on them. The survey is anonymous.
I will be taking this opportunity to help the OEM and RACES. This will also be a great opportunity to practice running and troubleshooting APRS and voice communications on the move. this will be a great opportunity to practice night time ops in an urban area and to get a feel for comfortable my body armor is for extended wear.
There will be 2 waves, 10 teams each. The 10pm teams had plenty of people, there were open slots on the 3am team. Perfect!
